This is a complete edit, actually we are gonna redo it in a different style later with more shots. But this is the final music video for now for sure. The new edit will be kinda a remix anyway

Just please give me feedback if you are gonna view it, Just dont pass me up like you guys always seem to do.

Re: Final Music Video (What They Want)

Check out the rapping skills by Skettalee. Is that you singing? Damn, if if I didnt know any better I'd have thought you black (Thats a compliment). Man can rap. (I dont like rap myself except for the commercial popular ones; Im an electric guitar band type myself).

Now that I have acknowledged Skettalee can rap (Serious, Im impressed). The video was okay. Honestly I felt the editing saved this peice as the comps and choice of shots were not that great. Perhaps you were going for the hand held (verite) look? Even so I felt it didnt work. Too many HIGH NOON bright exterior shots and not enough choice lighting set-ups (Yes, great looking shots can be gotten even using natural light). I found the INTEIOR shots more interested due to the contrast of dark and light.

Is it bad? No, its not bad. But its not something I could see being aired. I dont mean EVERY SINGLE shot as some of the shots worked but for the most part I wanted more variance in the shots (In terms of lighting, locations and in on screen persona; Skettalee? You have to be in everysingle shot?)

All in all. NOt great. I think Im more impressed by the editing (which its fast pace kept me interested in a natural eye candy attention getting way) and the song itself. Im not a rap fan but you know what? Skettalee can Rap.

IMHO of course.

p.s. and what you mean we always ignore you!? :o

Re: Final Music Video (What They Want)

Sketta, I saw the video and I thought the editing saved it. I'm not a big fan of rap myself, but the little I've seen has had a lot more story to it. I mean the videos. There was a point that I felt it got monotonous, because there were the same shots one after another. I think that the choice of angles was interesting, but maybe you could've told a better story by not having you in every single shot. Maybe what you were talking about, put some stock footage, news stuff, I don't know. Some of the effects you used were cool and I agree with Hudson (for my limited experience with rap) YOU CAN RAP.
Eminem, gettautamyway!
What's with the guy driving the car?

Re: Final Music Video (What They Want)

The guy driving is just a friend of mine and he is just a crazy dude. Had to do something off the wall. Thanks for saying I can rap. I know the me in every single scene thing, but I wasn't I did put as much as I can from what we have so far. We are thinking of going out and shooting more so I can take out that outside shot completely and add alot more B-Roll. I appreciate you guys liking it, we didn't even have a tripod or anything to use and we can only get better. I am currently in the works of building my own steady cam right now, anyone have any places online with good plans of them or something? I want to make it really sturdy and work good.

My friend did all the shots with his camera and I did all the acting/editing. I actually edited this peice in Vegas, can you guys believe it, im starting to see how kick ass vegas can be, though AVID still is an all around better program, vegas still gets the job done and almost just as fast.

Thanks for your compliments so far, you guys should check out my site and listen to some of my others songs. Well take it easy for now. Later!

Re: Final Music Video (What They Want)

You can definatley RAP. Damn dude, you dont sound white. (again comp). Even without a TRIPOD you can get better results; try putting the camera on anything to keep it static (beanbag, box, car hood whatever). BE creative in the framing of your shots (dont be afraid to off center yourself) and find creative angle in which to shoot (high, low, far away and zoomed in max...)

Keep making vids.

BROLL would be great; perhaps urban lifestyles, passersby...

Re: Final Music Video (What They Want)

.. agreed with all said above. what more can i say. defininitely needs more shots though. the repeats get stale, but song still carries through. good job. :)

Re: Final Music Video (What They Want)

Ok this is what I think..
I think you need to scout for more interesting locations something more hood more hip hop.
You running in the woods with a bottle of peregrine water is not gone do it.
I don't mean to be rude but there's something missing here.

I'm shooting a hip-hop video right now and editing in vegas 5.
gone post some frame grabs later on.
good luck!

Re: Final Music Video (What They Want)

not bad, but maybe you could put some ladies in the video. seems like a popular thing right now with rap videos. keep it up, sketalee.

Re: Final Music Video (What They Want)

The thing is, i dont want to do what others dude. I wanted this video in my house area. I dont want to act gangsta. Im not saying im in a gang in the song, im just saying that pretty much I am smart and know how to get what I want. Thats what thesong is all about...

and if i ever move if from there then you can always go to view media and check it and everything else i've done out!

Re: Final Music Video (What They Want)

Figure it out man, easy. Makes you feel good about yourself too. You just slow the video down, and on the down beats, just duplicate and put the duplicated part right before it muting the background. And theres a chop!
