Does someone here use Final Draft 7.1 (or perhaps 7.0; NOT the new version 8) who could reply with an attached screenshot image showing how minimal you can get the menu icons (Print, Save, Font, blah blah blah) to appear, viz does FD allow small icons over the more typical large icons i see when i look at screenshots on images.google.com? I have the demo version of FD8 and it looks really nice with small icons, I am very interested in migrating from Movie Magic to Final Draft. Thank you in advance for whoever can share a screenshot or two!
(Let me add I wish to avoid Celtx, I do not like Celtx, let's leave that out of the discussion here. It is a great program for those that like it. I don't)
There is reason to my madness. I want and might buy version 8 of FD but I am sorely wanting to transition back to using linux over Winblows (I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and it is as lousy as any version of Windows ever, but that is another discussion). Anyhows, I recall FD 7 installing and running quite nice in linux using what is called Wine (an API that lets some Windows software apps run in Linux. FD 7 runs golden (its rating at the Wine application website) in linux, unfortunately FD 8 does not (installs but does not run, crashes). I can install and run FD8 in linux, sort of, but only if I install a virtual machine in linux running Windows XP and then install and run FD8 in that, which has its own annoyances. So, I am still keeping dual boot systems, my PC and Laptop, for gaming, Sibelius music composition, etc., but 90% of the time I can work in Linux if I can just get FD running in Linux. Amazingly fast boot in linux-- 20 seconds compared to about 3-5 minutes on my Win7 system. (and it is a Zen thing but I love the Compiz Fusion effects in linux, like water droplet puddles while i type, wobbly windows, translucency of windows, etc).
