Final Cut won't see HVX in HD mode

I am trying to do this in LIVE mode.
I can see and capture fine in SD mode.
When I try to put the camera in any hi-def mode, I always get an error like

Unable to locate capture device
DVCPRO HD (720p60)

Any ideas? I just updated to 5.0.4 last night hoping this would fix my prob... Nope.
I'm guessing I need an updated codec or somthing?

Under Log & Capture>Capture Settings>Device Control>Select "Non-Controllable Device". Capture with the camera firewire out, set at 24p and edit away at 24p when done.

That would make sense.. However to my surprise the setting doesn't seem mattter.

But apparently in my haste of fixing the mysterious mac disappearing firewire port problem, I forgot that I'd reinstalled 10.4 not 10.4.5 which also seemed to have downgraded quicktime, and a few other things.. so once I did a software update everthing started working.. finally!!
