Hey guys, just would like to know if the new mac mini can handle Final Cut Studio 2? I think it can except for Motion 3, any thoughts guys? The mac mini has the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor installed. I didn't see this graphics card in the tech spec section though. What do you guys think? I'm considering in getting the new mac mini which was released today. Thanks!

Here's the link to the new mac mini. Cheers!

I wouldn't do it. I have a mac mini for basic computer stuff and it's not fast at all. Its a great little computer for everything except for exhaustive film editing IMO.

If you are in the market for a mini. I would buy a used G5 dual titanium. I edit HD footage all day without issue.

We use ours for a headless NAS and Sonos music server- works like a charm. Wouldn't want to edit on it though.

Hi Filthrich, what version of Final Cut are you using for your G5? And also, even if I maxed out the Ram to 4GB still would not work? Thanks man!

It will work, to some extent. If you are keeping in the DV realm, you'll be fine. If you are moving to HDV, you might be pushing the limits but still within workability. If you are moving to higher codecs (DVCPRO HD, XDCAM HD, etc.), forget it.

With only a single FW800 port, your expansion options for video storage and camera connection are pretty limited. Yeah, there's USB 2.0, but the single FW800 is a challenge.

So in all, not the best solution for FCS2.
