Has anyone been successful in getting "FCPX" to import footage from their AF100's yet? I tried for a couple of minutes and gave up.

Thoughts?

FINAL CUT PRO 7 and AVCHD Importer???

FINAL CUT PRO 7 and AVCHD Importer???

Uhhh, yes. It's very simple.
You might want to watch this if having trouble : http://www.larryjordan.biz/app_bin/Store/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=231
I suggest buying the whole series but each topic has a free download.

I have imported and edited af100 as native footage, as prores, and as prores proxy. Quite simple.

Dear Jan,

If Panasonic is working on an AVCHD import plugin/program for Final Cut 7, it's need is NOT negated by the introduction of FCPX. There are MANY of us who will NOT be moving to FCPX any time soon, and this functionality is very much needed by us orphans.

Thanks!

Jeff

+1 I don't care how the Native AVCHD support is in FCPX. I have written off FCPX (no multi-cam and RED support was the f-you death knoll of that app to me), so I am sticking with 7 till I have time to get premier CS5 down (if I have to relearn my application suite and change my workflow, I am gonna go with something actually professional...) So yea, worry about how the consumer cameras work with FCPX, just keep supporting the pro stuff in 7 and premier and everyone will be staying happy.

On a side note, we don't need to call out Jan post every post where we want something. Address Panasonic if anyone. She reads around here and contributes as much as she can, it is not her job at panasonic to hang out here, it is hers to manage the product lines. She just tries to respond as she can, but to call her out publicly to get her to respond is not really cool, as it is not her job to be Panasonic's PR person, she is just a member on here who happens to work with the higher-ups at panny and I am sure it is not really ever her call as to what happens, she is a member here like any of us, who just happens to listen to us here and brings up our side when she can have a voice. Really, address Panasonic if anyone.

I totally agree with this remark, Oliver. Jan is extremely helpful in bringing the feeling of manufacturer's paying attention to the user community. I think people want some sort of acknowledgement that their requests are registered. Jan just happens to be the friendly community contact at this time. Everyone knows that in Soviet Russia, initiative is punishable. :) Seriously though, if Panasonic Solutions Company (USA) had a formal feedback/request web form with receipt confirmation, posters would have a way to do it in a professional manner.

Not sure if by "call out Jan" you imply that I am being disrespectful to her, I assure you, that is not my intent. I have nothing but respect for her. I think I was being as respectful as possible, and, if she is a product marketing manager, then I believe it actually is her job to hang out here and learn what features users need in their professional tools. I don't recall that I've ever seen anyone else from Panasonic post here publicly; she seems to be the face of Panasonic on this forum.

In any event, I know that folks can sometimes come off seeming mean or sarcastic in email and in posts on forums like this. That was never my intent for her, nor you, my friend.

All the best,

Jeff

hi Guys,

I only hate it when people blame me for the stuff out of my control. ;-) But this request is still in the process, the AVCHD plugin is still due in July so don't worry about the fact that FCPX has it already. And yes I know it is easy to think of me as Panasonic, and to call out to me, not sure what I'd do if I didn't work here. ;-)

Thanks guys,

Jan

Jan Panasonic Crittenden! Has a nice ring to it! Thank you for participating, you've been a great resource on here.

I did not mean to aim it at your post specifically although I mention it as part of the response; I was talking about the forum in general. I agreed with your post totally. I was just adressing people in general addressing comments consistantly to Jan. Yours was well put, I just happened to mention it in regards to your post as I was already posting on agreeing to the message and I just wanted to point out that little side note that has been bugging me, mostly for other future posters to take note of. Did not mean to single your post out for that or imply you were being disrespectful, as I agreed with the message and the way it was written... just that we need to start saying "Panasonic" instead of "Jan".

Jan,

Great news! Thanks much for confirming this. This makes me feel very confident that I should continue working in Final Cut 6/7.

Again, thanks!

Jeff
