Final Cut Pro Crashes During Import from D4

Hey Guys,
Just shot a bunch of interviews at a high school football practice for an upcoming pre-season video.
I went to import all my footage into FCP Ver. 6.0.6 and it crashes every single time I attempt to import.
I tried to change the file extensions, import under different settings.....everything and still couldnt avoid the crash.
Also, I'm editing on an iMac that has nothing else on it but FCP(so I obviously dont have an overloaded computer).
Anyone have any similar problems or solutions to fixing this?

Thanks!

So your importing the raw files? Have you tried to convert to ProRes first? When ids the crash actually happening is it before they import, during or when you try and edit them into the timeline?

Yep, .MOV files straight off of the CompactFlash card I have in the camera. I haven't tried converting it to ProRes first...how would I go about that?
The crash is happening after FCP has loaded and started up fine. I go to the top and click "File--->Import--->Files". It acts like it attempts to load the file
into the browser and then it crashes. I never make it to the point of putting footage in the timeline.
