Final cut pro and af100 problem

Thanks for all your suggestions! I'll use the firewire 800 Drive for encode, and try using Compressor for the encode. Will start the process in about 30 minutes, and write back when it is finished. If I still get glitches, I'll go out and get a faster 7200 drive as suggested.

I'm still having the same problem - even reading from one FW800 drive and writing to another FW800.

Never use anything less than a 7200 RPM drive with FW800 to encode ProRes material. It will bottle neck. You also might want to make sure that the SD card reader you are using to dump the footage is SDHC/SDXC compatible. SD Card readers are not all the same.

Good Luck.

Wondering with the 7200 drive, does it matter that the source material is on a FW800 5400 drive? Read from the 5400, and write to the 7200? Or should I both read and write from the same 7200 drive?

- Does this occur on all your transfers or just this one clip?
- does it occur at the begging or end of clips? Or through out?
- Have you tried ClipWrap?

Happens on all the clips throughout. Haven't heard of clipwrap until now - I will look into it.

I'm wondering if my laptop is just not robust enough as well. It is a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 Gb RAM

I'm having this issue as well. Only seems to happen with my laptop. Haven't noticed it on my MacPro yet.

By the way, ClipWrap has just released version 2.3, specifically to fix AF100 compatibility issues. Well, I guess it does more stuff too... :)
Version 2.3 has a bunch of improvements for timecode, transcode options, improved stability, AF100 support, and a brand new manual.

So any AF100 user, definitely, update to the latest ClipWrap 2.3.
