Hi Everyone,

I'm brand new to this forum and I've searched through the topics to hope to find the answer to my question but am unable..So here it goes hopefully you guys can help

I just recently bought a DVX !00B and the handbook that goes along with it. As far as editing goes I have Final Cut Express. Can't afford the Pro just yet. Well I have noticed that when I film on the DVX and Capture in FCE the image is blurry and not as rich as on the camera. I shot in 24p and in the handbook it says to edit in a 60i timeline. I guess my question is how do I do that? I've been through all the drop down menus in FCE and can't seem to find it. I don't really know what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone out there lend me a hand? Thanks

I didn't think that Express handled 24p. Might be wrong.

and don't judge your video by the canvas. Only on an external monitor.

The 'blurriness' is most likely due to the fact that Standard Def Video, which is the only thing the DVX100 series produces... uses 'rectangular' pixels, rather than the native to computers square pixels. So, the image that a computer will display will necessarily be preceived as 'softer' than what will be produced on the TV monitor.

As for 24p... FC Express will edit 24p because the DVX100 performs the 3:2 pulldown to make the resulting video a standard 60i formated stream.

If you just use FCE, there should be no 'real' problem with using 24p... just it will not be '23.97' fps...

Since I have After Effects, which can deal with 24p and 24pa formats, I do shoot 24pa on my DVX100A, and frequently just edit (that is splice and dice) in FC Express.

Thanks j1clark!, but what if the work that I want to do is mostly for internet upload more than going to DVD. Will it give me the same quality that I'm seeing on the computer?
