Ok so if i finish editing my film using Final cut Express and export it to Quicktime and then once i buy Final cut pro and then import the film back using a 24p time line will that make it look more like the film look? or is it a waste of time editing now in the Final Cut Express? the film is being shot in 24p mode and it looks pretty dang good

Will Final Cut Express edit 24p? I didn't think the older ones did. The FCE HD might.

The only way to do 24p from a DVX in FCE express is is you shot using 24p (scene file 5) NOT 24PA (advanced pulldown). So it all depends on how you shot it. You cant edit on a 24 frame timeline regardless though, FCE Ecpress wont do that.

It will not look any different if you buy the full version and drop your QT file in. Any flicker or motion would be due to the repeated B and D frames due to the 2:3 pulldown. With your full version of FCP you may be able to use Cinema Tools and do a batch conform to remove all repeated frames, but i am not sure as i have never worked with 24p (scene file 5 type) and cinema tools.

yes you are fine. The only disadvantage is not being able to edit in true 24 frame. An easy was to tell is to scrub through 1 second of video, you will notice the repeated frames.
