Filter Order...does it exist?

Is there a consensus as to what order filters should be placed in?

If so, let's simplify by beginning with what should be placed closest to the lens and then moving outward.

Exactly how many filters do you have? If your lens is protected by a UV filter, it should obviously go first. ND's go after that however you'd like. Most of the time that's all you have. Maybe a polarizer or color filters would be best to do last since distorted light from other filters can mess with it. Keep in mind you don't want a lot of glass layers in front of your lens.
