GH4 Filter effect?

Hello,
I don´t seem to understand the filter effect. It is dislayed when monochrome is selected and the manual states that if you select yellow, you can get clear blue sky etc. But what is the point exactly if monochrome is black and white??
Or is it meant to be used for other modes (you select in monochrome and then switch to cine D, natural etc..), if so then why not implement into the other modes from the start?
Its 3:06 at night here, the sky is black so I can´t test the blue sky thing myself, but curiosity is too big, maybe someone can explain what that mode is meant for exactly.

In B&W we used to use color filters to lighten or darken specific colors in the scene to have them appear as a different tonal value than they otherwise did with no filtration.

One example is the yellow filter, it's a "contrast" filter and as such increases contrast in the B&W image causing blue skies to go darker than they would otherwise. Likewise we used Green filters to make green foliage appear brighter in B&W, a Red filter made skin tones go lighter but also caused blue sky to go much darker than Yellow did. All of this, of course, applies to Monochrome or B&W images.
