What is a good compression to use in premier pro 1.5 to keep virtually all the quality but shrink the file size a bit?

and then afterwards to DVD?

dont have encore. but i would like to know a way to do ijt in premier pro 1.5 if possible. i should also post this in the premier section.

I don't know, from my own personal experience premiere's encoding devices are pretty bad. I'd strongly suggest finding a media converter like sorenson or xilisoft's video converter. You'll have much better control over the compression.

Well if you dont have encore just use export to DVD in ppro. Or you can output Movie as mpeg2 and select settings.

the only problem with that is, well actually a 20 minute film, and since the file is more than 4.5 gigs, will Export to DVD in pp1.5 work? Will it auto compress it to fit the dvd?

there is no problem as encoding it to mpeg2 for dvd will compress your 20 minutes dv avi down quite a bit - you should be able to get about 80 minutes of mpeg2 onto a dvd
