Filmout DVCProHD footage Help!

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a film that's shooting with a HDX900 and planning on filming out to 35mm. They've done a filmout test with test footage and was disappointed with the results. From what I've read from the experience of others doing the same, the image quality should have been amazing. I was told that the image was very blotchy and just couldn't hold up in comparision to film or even DV blown to 35mm (especially dealing with wide shots and out of focus backgrounds). Does any one have any idea as to why this happened? Does anyone know the best way of filming out so I can make sure the lab is using the right process? The editor saw the image himself and said his previous film that was shot on DV with Canon's XL2 + film lenses looked so much better blown up than DVCProHD. He is really starting to hate DVCProHD because of this (and our problems with the HD1400 deck we are using... NOTE: NEVER EVER EVER EVER unplug the firewire cable on an HD1400 deck while it is turned on). Could it be the fact that we arent using film lenses? Could it be that the lab is not uncompressing the DVCProHD? Please help! We are doing another filmout with actual footage from the movie and I want to try to get the best image possible from it. I will definitely want to be at this filmout screening test to check out the results myself. Please help,
