im planning to get a d90 plus steadicam merlin but im short on budget..
there will be not much left for lenses..
i currently have 50 and 85/1.8 nikkors

i'd prefer to get a real camcorder, but i think the d90 is a killer choice for tight budget and my style of shooting/i dont do fast action scenes/

my question is what to get first: 24/2.8, 28/2.8, 35/2, 50/1.4, 18-70/3.5-4.5 or 18-105?

do wide-angle lenses and small apertures/f16, f22../ help in decreasing the jello effect

thank you guys

so wider aperture equals less 'jello'? this means fast primes are the most appropriate.. set @1.2, 1.4, 1.8..

some people claim the exact opposite- f16, f22-> better results..

i would hold off on the merlin and pick up a nice lens instead....if your shooting just video then you wont need a zoom lens. Alot of ppl are having trouble with the Merlin and the D90. Some get it to work but after weeks and weeks of adjustment....

Anyway..I have a 50 1.4 , the 18-105 kit lens which is the underdog of the bunch (great lens) a Tokina 11-16mm (which is my favorite to shoot with) and a 80-200mm which I NEVER use...

Wide lenses - you need one - 20 2.8 is probably the budget option or a stigma/tampon

Wide makes shake less obvious

Jello less apparent too

The merln is indeed a tough nut to crack - Im not really beating a monopod/dive weight yet

wide isn't the aperture, but the focal length....i think people are saying the wider the lens the less jellow, not the the higher the aperture the less jello.
