Filming Snow In Mammoth: Best Jumper Ever Video

Filming Snow can be very difficult. Filming snow in Mammoth Mountain California can be very difficult. The reason being the sun is usually shining and the snow is so reflective.
I am trying to figure out how to get the correct exposure on the snow, while maintaining color and detail in the trees. Any suggestions?

Oh and check out that video, it features one of the best jumpers on a snowboard today. Lonnie Kauk.

Looks good. Makes me wish I'd gotten some more days in this year. Not at Mammoth though - here in Colorado. Sorry... had to get that in there.

You might want to take a look at polarizing filters. A bit unconventional but I use a Hoya 'Moose'. It's both a warming and a circular polarizing filter. You got to reach around to the front of the lens to 'dial out' the relections but it looks pretty amazing. I've always been partail to circular but some people go with the linear version. It helps here in Colorado because it's such high altitude. If not dialing out the snow, you can clear out sky glare and make clouds pop.

Keep up the great work!

eh, the colors were fine, but the filming was really shakey, i film skateboarding alot, and one of the main goals is to keep a really steady hand.

even the still shots were rocking everywhere, there wasnt alot of like origonality in the shots either, play around, be creative.
