Filming into the sun

Hi all, just a quick probably silly question but better safe then sorry. I wanted to shoot a time lapses today of the sun setting but decided against it as I wasnt sure if having the sun shine directly into the camera and lens would damage it? Are there any tricks to filming into bright lights or is it generally ok? Thought best be safe and ask on here! Thanks Taras

Yeah you want to have a boatload of ND filters and an IR one as well. And you can absolutely fry your sensor if not careful...

hey nice, that is very manageable for me then as i can set the cam to nd 4 and have my voigtlander 25mm at a 16 f stop. Any one else care to comment specifically on leaving the camera sensor exposed to the sun for long periods of time in time lapses etc?
