filming concerts with red lights

it seems like all the venues in the area use nothing but red lights. it makes video look ****ing terrible. anything i can do to make it look better besides adding any other lights?

There's another thread like this running right now. And yes, red (or blue) lighting will make things look terrible. Any DV or HDV camera is going to choke under mainly-red or mainly-blue. The best thing to do is to get them to change the color; if they won't, the next-best thing to do may be to rent a 4:2:2 camera. The reds (and the blues) are going to render extremely low-res on any DV or HDV 4:2:0 or 4:1:1 camera.
