Filmed a live music performance last night...

I love my new-to-me HMC150. I filmed a live music performance last night at a dimly lit bar with 3 lights: 650w Arrilight about 50' back from the stage with 2 stops of CTO (management's request for mood lighting in the bar - not ideal for video), a bare 300w about 20' above and stage right of my subject, and a 300w with a cookie and CTO warming gel against the background... and I was getting an awesome exposure at 0DB gain, 1/48 sec shutter, and f/4.0 on the HMC150! The two HVX200 bodies that were also in use as lock-down cams were at +6DB gain and f/2.8 to get around the same exposure.

The footage looks badass - I'll post a few snippets soon!

Nice work!

Yeah I know the HVX200A is very similar to the HMC150, but didn't know the 200 was a lot less sensitive. Ill avoid them for low light!

My "B" cameras were HVX200 bodies - not HVX-200A (though in my limited usage of the 200A previously, it wasn't significantly better; only marginally better in low light. Only about a 1/2 stop difference between the 200 and 200A if I recall correctly - ASA320 vs ASA500 base ISO, and more elbow room for gain before getting noisier on the 200A).

Yeah, I have shot several concerts in very "challenging" lighting and the HMC always does well. I do not add any light, rather go by stage lighting. Very good results. Hard to complain about this cam's low light ability!

I remember when I first got my HMC151, and still had the HVX laying around waiting for a new owner. Me and my brother did a low light test, we aimed the cameras from the same place next to each other against three small candles, and that was the only lightning in the room. Both cameras had same scenefile, both were at zero gain, and open F stop. You could clearly see the candles on the HMC material while barely visible on the HVX material, it was almost pitch black on the good old HVX.
