Film shot with 2.0.3 25p firmware

My first day with the new 24/25p firmware with an Iscorama 36 1.5x anamorphic adapter on a Tair 11A 135mm and a Helios 44-2 58mm lens. Shot using a Gini shoulder rig and a Zacuto Z-finder. Graded in Magic Bullet Looks.

The bit-rate is higher averaging 47Mbps which equates to around 30% less compression @ 24p. I haven't seen any compression noise/macro blocking after shooting 3 films last week however they were all shot in daylight. I'm doing a night shoot tomorrow which will be the true test.

I've discovered a bug in the firmware, no sound is recorded with the function dial set to the custom user settings (C1, C2, C3) For me in camera sound recording isn't an option without any monitoring. It's dual system until there's a Magic Lantern update.

Cute!
Children make such interesting subjects but I'm way too young (and poor) for one right now, haha.

Is Magic Bullet Looks a good investment? I have Apple Color that came with my FCP and wouldn't want to spend the $$ unless it's like night and day.
Also, are you shooting dual system for personal videos as well?

Excited to see the night shoot footage!

I was using magic lantern and a juicedlink but now it's back to the zoom H4n with the juicedlink. I was using color but looks is easier and faster to use.

I dont know about tjhis vid... i like anamorphic but you closed down lens too much and focus is too deep so theres no anamorphic bokeh also this vignetting is it because of the lens or is it some preset ? Vignetting always looks like problem with lens to me and looks wrong.

The vignetting was done in post and looks a bit fake to me, I'd meant to fix it but didn't get around to it. Vignetting done right works well to frame and focus attention on a subject, I'm in the process of grading a short film and the vignetting looks very good, it is much more subtle than on this one. It's very hard to keep kids in focus if you don't stop down a bit.

Jello is very noticeable. Are people getting used to it?

Just this saturday I tried a 5D in 30p mode with a huge 70-200 USM lens on it (on the wide end though) and it came out very stable. I suppose USM makes a lot of difference, or maybe 24p is more susceptible to jello than 30p.

No it's just the isco anamorphic lens, slight rotation causes skew. I shot a film last week without the iscorama with a steadicam and shoulder rig that I'll post next week once it's cut and graded.

I don't recall any complaints of more jello on the 7D @ 24p vs 30p.

You're never to old or rich to not have children. I can't count the number of ways my life has been enriched by the absence of them. :-)
