Hello, everyone. What a great resource this site is. I'm a College of DuPage film student. My school is about 20 miles outside of Chicago. Fabulous school for the price. I'm the producer for our student film titled, "New Life"(working title). The running time will be between 10 - 15 minutes. Being the producer is pretty interesting. I'm less involve with the creative side of things and I have to plan the logistics of the production. So far, I had to come up with an outline of the film's life, i.e. pre-production, production, post, exhibition and distribution. I had to research various festivals. I had to do a producer's pitch to my instructor, who is acting as the executive producer. We are going over deal memos now, as I have to hire the crew. There are 5 members in my group. There's the director, DP, AD, production designer, and myself, the producer. We've only been in class for two weeks and I'm already learning a bunch. Right now, I have to find and hire the rest of the crew, and come up with fund raising options. Speaking of which, if anyone has any advice please feel free to give it. I'll keep ya updated on our progress.
