Film Out Pricing Question

Not sure if this is the right place to post this...

I've got an 11 minute short film shot on the HVX at 720/24p that I want to take out to a 35mm print. I've contacted one place in NYC (where I live and would like to do the film out) and got a quote of $300/minute for the transfer, this includes the optical audio track. This quote is from Heavy Light Digital...

My question is, has anyone here dealt with any other NYC-based companies that do 35mm transfers? Is $300/minute a pretty standard rate or are there better places? Would going to a place in L.A. make a difference (maybe because there are more of them there, they are more competitive on price...)

Anyway, any help would be appreciated...

But if you are showing it at a film festival, maybe it will be shown on digital projection anyway and a filmout is not necessary. . ..

I agree. Why do you need a 35mm print of a short? Don't most festivals screen digital as well?
