Film Made for the National Film Challenge

reminded me of Brad Pitt in True Romance
I honestly haven't seen that movie before. Is it worth the rent? The actor that played that "gravyhead" is awesome. He is actually playing the lead in our submission for the sci-fest.

Yeah I use G Film know which is mac native and renders faster.

Although the new Magic Bullet has supposedly made strides in this area - once I finish my rough cut for the sci-fi fest i will probably drop the $99 bucks to the new version.

For the 72 hour challenge, if I had been thinking, I would have just hit remove attributes and there would have been no rendering and we could have at least got it in on time -- oh well.

I haven't ever heard of G Film. When I got my Apple, I went for Final Cut Pro. I figured if I was taking out a loan, I might as well spend as much as I can. I do need to buy the upgrade for itt though. Now they have FCP 5.

G Film is a set of Magic Bullet like film-lool plugins FOR Finacl Cut that only cost $100 and you get free updates for life.

Magic Bullet renders slow on Mac because they are PC native. Plus they charge for their updates.

I highly recommend G film if you haven't tried it.

you can download the demo or buy the full version here:

you can see bleach bypass, S gamma, beauty, and hyper-contrast (not available - I beta tested) in my short for zombie fest , which is linked in my signature.

I just checked out your ZOMBIE film. That was really really good. Your lighting looked perfect. I liked the effects you used also. Looks like we better bring our "A" game to this sci-fest.

well the idea was Keep it Simple for the Zombie flick in the name of quality

but I've gone way overboard for sci fi so we'll see if I can pull it off.

EDIT: thanks BTW

HA!

If Pete Murphy says your joint is strange -- well that's like Rob Zombie saying your movie had a ton of graphic violence. Pete makes strange (and good) movies.

You make a good point, I did mean it in a good way. Thanks for saying my movies are good, I'm not sure I'd say that but I appreciate it. I chuckled to myself when I watched the movie, I was a little bored and confused until the bar scene when the guy gave him gravy...then I laughed aloud and said something like "hehe, wah?" I liked the salesman character, there is nothing like a naive do-gooder gettin caught up in some mischeif like white gravy dealing. I thought the first while of the salesman in the car and the cop could have been edited down, and some of the audio seemed a bit weak to me, I had a hard time hearing dialogue over car noises, etc. Other than that I think you pulled off the style pretty good, it looked a tad washed out but not too bad. "This dude sells knives" was pretty good, I also liked the grungy look of the house and the people in it...that one dude sleeping on the couch looked like axel rose. It looked like fun to make and I thought the acting fit quite well. Post more soon, I'm hooked on this gravy stuff.

Thanks for the compliments Peter. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I'm glad your hooked on the gravy stuff. It was a bit washed out, it was something we didn't catch until it was too late. We have currently fixed the problem though. Look forward to hearing back from you.

I would tighten up your editing a bit and vary your angles in the scenes with the salesmen. Remember only the part following the officer is 'cops'. The rest is a narrative that you are telling and should be treated that way. I think some of those shot were too long and too poorly lit to hold my attention.

I thought that the film was AWESOME. I loved the creativity and absolute quirkiness of it. I'm not sure if it met you requirements of "fantasy," but it was a fun one to watch.

Good Job!
