Film look with HVX200 & Redrock M2

Is this in Rockford, IL? That's where I'm from...if that's where you're based maybe we can hook up sometime on one of my projects.

wow, that did look like film.
how did you get the sharp edges off from the HD camera?
the black is really beauful in it.

Thanks.

The adapter is what really helps soften the picture; if you pay attention, you'll see one or two shots in there that are actually from the DVX B cam w/o the adapter. The image looks a bit sharper and less filmic (even though it's not HD). Honestly, you don't need HD if you're going for the film look. I'd almost recommend not using it...the HD lends itself a bit more to the docu look, in my opinion.

really nice colors!!
what lighting stuffs did you use? and what preset in the cam?
i like it

Hey, no wounder it looked like film!!! because it was a DVX..haha

I never saw any video produced by the HVX that looked like film, but this really does look like film!!!
great job, and thanks for the info. you made me like my DVX even more!!

@ ryvac : the shoot was 99% HVX, so even though we weren't shooting HD, the HVX still came out with a nice film look.

@ delaro: thanks. we used an ARRI tungsten fresnel lighting kit. took a while to get the mood just right, but the lighting did everything for the shoot, especially with the M2, which is really light hungry. we shot it in 24P.

Good looking stuff, what were your scene settings if you don't mind me asking? Also, 720 or 1080?

best,

JP
