Film Camp

definately skip film camp... experience is THE way to know how to make YOUR perfect film, not what someone else tells you is a perfect film... it seems like youre paying 5400 for forced motivation and experience.

Also you should follow your own path and not let someone else tell you what to do with your time. I can tell you the path that I took, it doesn't mean that's the path that is going to work for you. Bottom line: Your parents gave you an opportunity, you take it or you don't.

what if instead of going to a film camp you tried to get an internship with a production company? i live in new york and i am in highschool. i was wondering about this myself. do production companies even do that? any suggestions?

I dont think they would jus take high school kids and have them help out..maybe they could..but if you liive in NYC..your best bet is a TV studio..theres quite a few of them.

Well for expierence..they teach alot of things and styles of filming....Did any of you read the things they teach there?
I'm still drifiting that idea though...I wanna go..but dont wanna go...I wanna go cuz I would learn different things of filmmaking...but dont wanna go cuz it takes 6 weeks of my summer..

And we thought you wanted to learn something...

If you said "don't wanna go cuz I can probably spend $5k on something else that would help me learn the craft better than this camp thing..." that would be fine, that I can understand. That is why many of us suggested the camera instead - because (in theory) you could learn a lot by actually shooting, by practicing. But since you said you only don't want to go because it'd take 1,5 months... man, I don't think you even care. Might aswell save parents some money.

Gotta agree with xl70e3 on this one. That was a real tell-tale sign when you said, "... dont wanna go cuz it takes 6 weeks of my summer." Man, you should wait until you're *really* ready. I think you're too unfocused at the moment to really know what you want.

heh, someone asked me a few weeks ago, 'why do you write?' I was at a loss for a response.

The only thing I could say was, 'because I can't not write.'

Next Summer! That´s a lot of time in advance, man!

Get the HVX, get the books and dvds people talk about here (SPECIALLY scriptwriting)...

... And talking about MOTIVATION...

Ask Jarred when is the deadline for next year´s ZOMBIEFEST!

Then put a call to help you in your project (who knows who might appear) and bore them and make them regret they helped you after all your questions to learn the art!

EDITED: It´s six weeks of fun. But if you wanna chicks, better run to actor´s summer camp.
