"File error: Unknown file" appears everytime I try to render

Hi,

I've Final Studio 3 and it always worked out fine but now everytime I try to render audio or video this message appears: "File error: Unknown file", and it won't render.

Everythings seems fine in the System Settings. I'm working with files transcoded to "H.264" from a 7d with iphoto.

Many thanks in advance

The problem was that it wasn't transcoded by me, the files were given to me like that. Do you think that it might be because of that? Is there any solution for this?
The original files in the card were deleted so I've no way but to work with the files like this.

By the way, which plugin for Canon's so I can tell my pal? Thanks

But then again this is also happening when I try to render audio and it was recorded with a Zoom h4n and the frequency/bitrate are the same in the sequence as I recorded it in the field (96khz/24bit). The same message appears when I try to render.
Don't you think that it might be because of something in Final Cut? I checked the paths, the render controls, everything seems fine...

Any help would be much appreciated

The h.264 files should be converted to pro res, with aiff 48/16khz audio files.

FCP works with editing codecs, not computational intensive acquisition codecs like h.264.

Thanks David, meanwhile today I got back to work and I did that. I converted all files in Mpeg Streamclip to ProRes 422 HQ but the the same message and error keeps popping up and I can't render.

I even opened a new project and used the Pro Res files in the sequence, the message for the sequence to assign the details of the files popped up and I said ok. Do you've any clue on what might be happening?

Edit: I tried to render sequences that I previously worked on and the same message appears. Sequences that I rendered and everything was working just fine. I really have no ideia why this is happening. Should I uninstall and install Final Cut Studio 3 again?

Appreciated for your help

Oh something I forgot to mention. This is the first time that I use FCS 3 to actually edit after having installed Lion. Do you think that it might be because of that?

Perhaps there's some other file lurking in your project that's causing the error. I'd try media managing it to see what happens. And yeah could definitely be a Lion related issue.

Thanks, I just tried media manager and it didn't work.. I checked and all my files are Pro Res now...

Do you think that I should uninstall and install FCS3 again? Right now it's only the option that I can think of...

I installed Lion over Snow Leopard from my hard drive, not through the disk in order to keep my files and programs in the computer.

Today I'm the dumbest guy in this amazing forum!
I thought I had the hard drive "Set" in the System Settings but I hadn't.

I was already prepared to do backups and reinstall Lion when I went to your General FCP FAQ - Read me First! sticky Noah, read through the Render Problems Tutorial and find out that...

It's amazing how something so basic can give you some much trouble...
Thanks a lot guys!
