Field Monitor & Firestore?

Hello.
Sorry about the amount of questions about this camera, but I'm trying to learn as fast as I can.

what types of field monitor options are there for this camera, and can you use them with a firestore attached?

I'm trying to decide between HDVRack/laptop, or the firestore and a regular field monitor. Obviously the HDVRack would be cheaper, but I don't think I would enjoy being cabled to my laptop. I'd like everything on the camera so I can move it around.

Thank you.

Firestore has not yet been certified for use with the JVC. The DR-HD100 is the product you'd want which has a 19.7 Mbs HD (HDV) MPEG2 transport system supporting 720p 24 and 30. It will not, however, be ready from Focus until probably the end of March. Focus has sent 6 iterations to JVC and each has been returned with a to-do list back to Focus. All of us are anxiously awaiting its debut but, quite franklly, JVC's people said, at the DGA last week, don't hold your breath for the March date either.

Further, as to the monitor question, DVRack is fine if you're where there's a power source and we use DVRack as a really useful tool in some situations but laptop batteries are notorious for their short life. Our shoots typically involve the VARIZOOM 7" kit for framing and a HiDef field monitor for quality checks on all of the cameras. There are more expensive solutions out there, some better, some worse but with typically 3 and 4 cameras on a shoot, we find it easier to give the shooters something to frame with other than Flipper while the DP, Producer and Director check quality and then green light off the single HD field monitor

Are you recording with the laptop and using the tap as backup, or are you just using HDVRack to monitor?
