ok so i realize that avid doesn't import mpeg directly so how do i import a dvd with the highest quality? we also have some vhs video's that i need to get some footage off of. also i have mojo dx, i don't know if this helps figure this out.

Try Sorenson to convert the mpeg to Quicktime. I beleive Avid FX can import movies directly, that would be another work around.

Cinematize is a well known MPEG converter for productions. If Sorenson can't do it try this.
