SHORT: Feet - DepicT short film festival

I don't like the peice as a whole. However the idea is funny somehow it's very freaky, especialy the look in the face of the mother and boy in combination with the music. The music make it feel like a thiller while I suppose it must be a feelgood.
Some shots are to static, they look just like photo's. I would have used a small pan or slider for that.
The shot of the blanked was very weird and had anoying movement, to long. Also it was not needed because you already saw he had no legs.
Some shot's, mainly the close-up of the boy's face is over-cast and the collor bit out.
I would ditch and shorten many shots. The toys, Just one pan with al the toy's and then the boy's face and then the puppet and than the puppet's feet. The sound fx on the scissors make it feel cheap.

I like the collorgrade and most wideshots. Especially the intro but the peice could be better with a few simple things.

Just my opinion.

Hey man thank you for taking time and writing in depth review.

The thing is that this was made in a hurry I shot it the day before with a cheap tripod and homemade dolly, that isn't practical at all (it didn't even fit in the shop lol) plus I have little experience but really want to improve.

As you noticed I was going for a freaky look, but wanted to use actual ambient sounds to tell the story not the track I used afterwords. I taught you could just use sounds from sound bank like wheelchair, bumping, street ambient sound, man was I wrong! It ended up horrible so I had to use a soundtrack. Next time when I will be shooting I will make sure to get all the sounds recorded. And yes you are right some shots should be shorter or deleted, I was affraid I wouldn't make clear enough for people to get it ... I wanted to create the expresionistic look with the sound of scissors that are not synchronised with picture, but looking back to it I think I would change it now.

I am also glad that you liked the collorgrade (even though I am complete beginner in that field) and wideshots.

In the end I think I learned a lot, especially since I did so many mistakes.
