SHORT: Feedback -- A Campus Movie Fest film shot on the D7100

I did a brief test shoot with the D7100 and two Nikkor AIS lenses that I submitted to the Campus Movie Fest competition. It managed to win a Golden Tripod and now it's going to screen at LA.

We shot it with the D7100, A Nikon 24mm f2.0 AIS, and a Nikon 50mm f1.2 AIS.

We also used a Manfrotto 504b with a Lowell Tota Omni Kit that we rented from the university. Little did I know that when we got there, one of the light bulbs had blew out -- and the school didn't send us with any extra, so I had to run with a two-light setup. I used an orange and blue gel setup that worked okay, but I would've preferred the other light for some background separation.

Any and all criticism is appreciated and welcomed!

Well, the lighting didn't work for me. A lot of the shots were overexposed. Any reason behind that? Pretty distracting. The gels seemed to be used simply because you could, instead of to further the mood or augment the natural light. A few of the shot angles seemed off. Too centered or didn't seem to compliment the others, the shot of the typewriter in focus with the guy thinking didn't work either, but a good majority of the shots work well. Now....I thought the concept was OK..although the films about filmmaking is a little amateur. I'm not sure if I understand the ending, was it meant to say...see writing isn't easy? Why was the critic comabtive at first then compliant at the end? The acting was actually not bad, I would congratulate your actors. I wish I had people like that willing to act for me. The sound worked good (ambiance ect..) except the vocals had a lot of reverb. What kind of sound set up did you use? Over all it is good effort and I hope you don't think I'm being negative. I'm not. I see potential for sure and only am so critical because I hope it can help. Please share any future projects. I'm looking forward to it.
