Just finished up a video for a band called Grupo Rival from Illinois. I shot in 2 days and the edit and effects took roughly 2 weeks in Vegas and AE. I knew the greenscreen would be a pain but I wanted to see how far I could push it, I'm ok with the result but I know it could be a lot better. It's on youtube so be sure to click the high quality button.

Hey- great work. And it shows you did a lot with it.
Has a nice look, color timing is good throughout.

It must be hard to pull it off when melding so many takes together into one contiguous piece with a critical component like a vocal track as a base.
How do you pull it off so seamlessly? (I noticed no glitches- it all plays smoothly).

The integration of green screen is perfectly fine in this. No issues.

Bothered by the cross in the bar with the one light. Shadow too strong on opposite wall.
Shots behind bar are a bit iffy too. Not as bad as 'shaky cam', but kinda 'heady' none-the-less.

Would have gone for a couple more 'glamour' shots of the female.
Just to set the 'tone' for his lament. "This is what I'm missing" kind of thing.
Have to establish her as the 'object', or 'subject' of the piece.
Maybe just an MCU of her on the couch, or in the vehicle?

It's really, really well done. Very professional and well executed.
Don't mind my small points above. You get a big fat 10 out of 10 on this one!!
Great stuff.

Yeah it took some time to try to edit it to where it wouldn't get dull, I had over 70 tracks during the edit and would just solo one at a time to see which one fit best for the next scene.

Yeah the lighting in the bar bugged me also but that's my first time trying to light a very dark scene with some cheap Home Depot lights, I got a lot to learn in the lighting department. What's an MCU?

Thanks for checking it out and for the critique:)

I think it was you did a great job with it, my only suggestion would be to loose the sort of lens flare type beams off of the band in the performance section as I don't feel it matches the tone of the singers performance or the song itself. Other than that way better than I expected with what you said about the green screen, I was expecting something really sketchy but that was perfect. El video de la música es gran!

The green screen work was great. How far behind was the screen from the band during the shoot?

The drummer's back I think was touching the green screen because he had to be further back so I could fit the whole drumkit, everyone else was around 2 feet away from it. i had a white light to the top left behind them and a warm worklight bouncing off the ceiling in front, most of the light came from the window.

Was an awesome video. Well put together and i love how you did the greenscreening, but you NEED to loose the horizontal stretch in your video.

MCU- medium close up. CU, WS, ES, LS, DT, PR/PL --- all kinds of abbreviations are available!

A word of advice- you're too good to be using cheap HD lamps.
Get a Lowell kit (used) and paint with light. There's magic in lighting.

Keep it simple, but experience the 'push/pull' the advantage of a few good fixtures gets you.
It's worth your investment- and, like I said, you're too good not to have it.

Keep it up!!
