Big Thanks for your great appreciation. That makes our work worth the sweat and blood. Here are some pictures. More to come, that´s for sure.

Wow, this looks great. Footage from the DVX repeatedly amazes me. I'd really be interested in more information about how you made it. How did you get the actors? Crew? How many shooting days? Did you do anything special in post?

Ernesto.

Thank you so much for the great response!
The genesis of this production was a workshop for young adults who wanted to learn acting. The director Mark Auerbach has a lot of experience working with non-professionals and he wanted to take it a step further.
So we had a big casting and after that a little selected group of 15 non-actors eager to become real actors. For almost a year he gave them acting-lessons on the weekend and wanted to close the workshop with a nice trash-short-film shot in 2 weeks.
But the screenplay for "Rage on Stage" (at the time titled "Out!") was getting bigger, adding more backstory to the many characters. Eventually he gathered his fellow filmmakers for the big ride, and we´re still not finished.
The total crew was most of the time 14 people, the main cast consisted of 10 people.
Everybody works for no money on this production, it is a pure labour of love and probably the biggest independent No-budget production this county (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) will ever see. All the filmmakers are in there twenty and thirty somethings and try to get in the business without any filmschool.

It's not loading, think the link is dead....
Did you see the website with the traileroptions "small" "medium" "large"? Just click on one of these options and the trailer will load. It´s Quicktime.

one word - AWESOME! you and the team have done a great job, definitely shows what the old DVX can do.
i`m wondering about dvx settings, programmes used for CC and effects, any behind the scenes photos would be great too.
i guess the great lighting you had there really makes the difference, congrats again.
thanks for the good words.
We didn´t messed around with the settings, but of course we shot progressive 25p PAL. Very important for us was indeed ambitious lighting. We sometimes needed up to 3 hours to light a setup - still taking everyday lessons here. The idea was: let it look as expensive as possible. For some of our setpieces like the ballroom, we needed a lot of Kilowatts to make it. It was always a big hunt for electric-power without paying for it. Guerilla-Filmmaking at its best.
The trailer was edited on a MacMini using FinalCutPro 4. All CC is only rough and was done with FinalCut. We´re going to try a little bit more with color finesse for AfterEffects for the final Output.

Another behind the scenes photo shows again, we were pretty low-tech speaking of extremely simple dollys, that were screaming under my weight :D

it's so freaking awesome.
the lighting is amazing.
did you use an adaptor?

No, there was no adaptor involved. But the old tricks with wide-open Iris and long focal length still work, I guess.

Wow. Very impressive, the lighting was great. I can definately see that you took the time to get it right, as you mentioned sometimes up to three hours. That's awesome that you had that dedicated of a crew and cast. I think it looks like it would be a riot, and I agree with the user that said, if you subtitled it in English and sent it over here it would be a cult hit. Way to go, thanks for all the information and you guys did a rockin job.

That poster is awesome. You guys definitely succeeded in making this movie look very expensive. Are you planning on sending to festivals?

The High Quality version of the trailer appears to have an encoding problem at the 00:25 crane shot.
