I shot the feature, HOG ISLAND, on the dvx100a, and I wanted to share it with this forum.

The film just had its world premiere at the Sonoma Valley Film Festival. Next it will screen at the Big Island Film Festival in Hawaii in May. This is my debut feature as a director, and I had a great experience (camera included).

Check out the trailer on our website www.hogislandmovie.com. The DP is a very talented guy named Rob Poswall -- originally from the Bay Area but he now lives and works in Los Angeles. I recommend him to anybody down there. The rest of the cast and crew are all local to the SF Bay Area.

Best to all the filmmakers out there,
Tom Clyde

We used the anamorphic adapter and also had a Chrosziel mattebox system -- lots of use of the graduated .6 filter with all those open skies as background! Lighting was with a basic Britek kit.

Least I got the anamorphic adapter part right.

Looks good, though. Just makes me all the more eager to start shooting my own work.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you guys like the look of it. The only problem we experienced with the camera was during night scenes with only pockets of light -- not a lot of grays available. But that's just the nature of shooting on miniDV. I wonder how the HD cameras compare in terms of shooting dark scenes... in terms of capturing more.
