I did one last Summer. No trailer but picked up by Lions Gate. Funny. I don't see myself doing another soon. Too much work, not enough $$$$$$$$.

Survrving The Rush

I made one in 2003 but not with a DVX. We used an XL1.

Hey Mr.BirdBoy I know who you are, I saw your first feature Tainted. In fact I just watched it again the other night, my buddy just bought it on DVD. In fact Eric that worked with you guys on Tainted also worked with us on Falling Apart.

When does Survrving The Rush get released on DVD? Or is it a theatrical release from Lions Gate first?

Hey Roxics,
Not to dis anyone's film, especially the Tainted crew, but I had nothing to do with that work.

Sean Farley was writer on Tainted & wrote and actor directed Surviving the Rush. They are Miles apart in production value. Tainted is a Low Budget Film. Horror & vampires.

Rush is half the budget but the production values are miles better. I DP'ed, directed on set and cut it. It looks like my stuff, not so much Sean's work. That is not any disrespect as I said, but how the roles worked out.

Is Eric the Big cop guy who played the Gay Mafia Vampire at City Club? If so He has a fun scene in this film: A really mad customer with a giant gun. This line: F*ck your Squissh Fishies !!" I smile just thinking about it.

So where in Detroit are you & do you shoot DVX ? I always need a second gun without a union card. Let me know ...

Steve

Hey Steve like I said in my PM sorry I assumed you were Sean.

I'm Clinton Township. By Mt. Clemens.
But I really don't work on other peoples projects. Not anymore anyway. Not to be a prick or anything to other indie filmmakers in the area. It's just that I have only so much free time between my day job, my 2 year old son and my own films I shoot. I like to spend it on my own projects rather then other peoples. But I'm always up for networking with other local filmmakers, trading actors, advice, ect. And of course seeing their films.

Made a feature length mockumentary. The "Director's Cut", which is actually shorter (56 min), is available for download. It was shot on 3/4" equipment and editted on one of the first non-linear editors, a Toaster Flyer. This was years ago so don't judge me on its quality.

If you like "Spinal Tap" you might enjoy the band segment.

Heyall,

Troma picked up my first feature, "Space Daze", which came out last year, although it was made over the course of many years and is acutaly two separage projects stitched together. I think it still holds up. I'll admit it isn't the greatest film out there, but it's fun. Although it wasn't shot with the DVX, I sure wish I had had one at the time. These are the formats used: Super 16mm film, Super 8mm film, Beta SP, 3/4" Umatic, SVHS, and finaly Mini DV with the Canon XL1s. Sounds weird but it works for the project.

The next was "Working Title," but the distributor is changing that to "Scary Film." It was shot on a mix of mini DV cameras including the JVC GY-550, the Sony PD 150, and the Sony VX1000. Again, sure wish the DVX was available when we started shooting that one.

Those were two older films. The newer ones are "Spaced Out," which is a sequal to "Space Daze" and it is completly shot on the Canon XL2, and "Michael Morlock in the Supernatural World" which is a mix of the XL2 and the DVX 100A.

That last one was originaly scheduled to shoot with the Panasonic SDX 900, which is a great cam, but due to the length of the production the rental prices added up too quickly. The two camera's we went with worked fine for our project.

So fine in fact, that when we start a thriller/horror film this Spring, we may stick with the DVX. Maybe even over the new JVC HD-100. My mind still isn't made up about this yet. Oh well, the choice of cameras is one of the coolest things about filmmaking these days.

Cross-Eyed Waltz - New Brit Indie shot on DVX

Cross-Eyed Waltz - New Brit Indie shot on DVX

Hey

The website for CROSS-EYED WALTZ is up at www.crosseyedwaltz.com

It's getting rave reviews and should hopefully be touring the festivals this year.

Described as 'The League of Gentleman, 1984 and Richard Lester's Help! all mixed together in a way that makes Dali look like a staid realist' It has the energy of a Savage Steve Holland flick, a Zemeckis/Gale production with just a hint of Spielberg.

Shot on the DVX100a, come on and join the Waltzer over at www.crosseyedwaltz.com

I knew there were some out there!! I just finished reading rebel without a crew, think its time to set aside the short films and go for a feature. Now to start checking out all these movies here...

Hey birdboy, one of your actors from Surviving the Rush worked on a film that I was a grip on, Young and Vulnerable Years (wasnt shot on a DVX though). Michael McKiddy. Small world, eh?

OOOOOOOOO

I sooo want to say yes, I made my first feature recently...run time ~50 minutes!!! Its a feature by academy rules!! but whether the mass majority would accept it as a feature...well, maybe not :(

We shot one in August. It's now in post production so it's not done yet. Looks like it is going to come in at about 86 minutes. We probably have 3-5 weeks left on it. It's called, Hollywood Gothic. I guess I don't have to tell you the genre.

EDIT: Post production is complete. Now it's time to find a distributor.

Lycan Colony is another feature that I just noticed on the boards. Anyone else know of any others that haven't been listed?

Off topic, but I was looking at the sleepover nightmare crew pictures and noticed that Jarred looks enormously tall.

How tall is he really? Is everyone else just short or?

DVX100 PAL- Crew of 7- with a budget that can't even feed a SAG extra. :)
