i think its all the same.. since the dvx's viewfinder does not overscan like a lot of other camcorders

It has been my experience that in SQUEEZE mode (with the viewfinder set to 16:9), the viewfinder does not show everything the camera is recording. On a number of occasions, I have framed a shot to look just the way I wanted it but, after the footage was transferred to my NLE, the image actually contained more than what I thought I had shot. For example: I could shoot a scene framed so that the boom mike was not visible in the frame, only to have the mike show up in the scene once it was on the computer. I have learned to frame my shots tighter so that the extra area of the image doesn't cause such a problem.
My advice to you is to shoot a few experimental scenes to see just how much extra image area you are getting.
