Feature doc, shot with HVX200/HPX170

I just wraped on a 5 month long doc called "Herpers". It's about reptile fanatics. The doc took me all over the US. We interviewed many snake breaders, field herpers, and a few celeberties like Slash. Anyway I just wanted to say I love the HPX170. I shot the first 2/3's with my old HVX and the final 1/3 with my new HPX170. I added 6db of gain so it would match the HVX footage. The low light capabilities are way better, especialy once I added the gain. It's so much lighter, a few hours without putting it down, the weight makes a huge difference. The biggest issue I've had was the lens cap isn't pocket friendly. The biggest benifit was the MA focus option. That saved my ass on a bunch of shots. Shooting a doc you can't always do something again because you couldn't focus in time, snakes don't do second takes. With MA focus, there were several time I got the focus just in time, where I would have missed the shot with MF, and AF would have focused on the background. Anyway the 170 overall is a big improvement over the 200 for many reasons. I'll keep you fellow DVXUSER's updated on how the film does. We're desperatly trying to make the SXSW deadline.
