Feat. req.: new tape/new tc hour

I'm posting a show that's being shot with 2 DVX's. It's totally on-the-run shooting and the DP's do not have time to mess around with the clunky menus to reset timecode hours on each tape, so basically I'm ending up with about 240 tapes that mostly start at 00.00.00.00. Not a great situation for the edit room.

I wish the camera had a function that when activated would automatically advance the timecode hour by 1 each time a new tape was put in.

you could set the timecode to free run, this way the time code will never overlap, it just keeps going and going and going. . . sorry, got a little caught up in the moment. I think you can also set the time code to the time of day, I don't have my camera in front of me right now, but that might work for you as well.

Free run works OK but then you have TONS of timecode breaks and that really slows digitizing down.

Yeah thats true I just shoot a wedding and jam synced both cameras and I had a really bad time loggin the footage..there must be a better way..

Re: Feat. req.: new tape/new tc hour

Free run is good when you're letting the cameras run through entire tapes without stopping--otherwise it can be a pain. An auto incrementing function *would* be excellent. 240 tapes? That's not for one show is it? :o
