I don't know the technical answer to that but I do know that the focus does not feel mechanical. It feels electronic. It doesn't feel like the focus on a B4 zoom. It does have focus end stop ( it doesn't go past infinity like most still photography lenses do. ) The focus has a fly-by-wire feel to it in my experience.
