FDTimes: New Cine Standard Size & Mount?

I think a more interesting question - since mounts can be swapped anyway - is whether someone can make reasonably priced cinema zooms. By reasonably priced, I reckon a 15-35mm and 25-50mm T3 for under $5,000 or so. Tokina right now seems to be the only one trying to break into the pro market, if one discounts all the EF manufacturers.

But then look at something like Angenieux and their 16-40mm T2.8 and 30-76mm T2.8 are ~ $25,000, Canon 15.5-47mm T2.8 is $20,000. I've brought it up in a different thread, cameras have became very affordable but lenses have not.

I've been looking hard at the Tokina Cine 16-28 & 50-135 T3.0 lenses. Together would be around $11K and cover my needs in two lenses. I wish there was more tests of these lenses online to see how much they improved breathing and other lens flaws of the photo versions. I do like Tokina lenses.

I think the S35 sensor + Micro-Four-Thirds lens mount of the JVC LS300 is the best of all worlds. You can even get the 36x24 frame they're talking about with a SpeedBooster (S35 * 0.7 = FF35). So already you can accomodate all the lens from C-mount on up, without introducing yet another mount.
