FCS 5.1 + FCS2 Upgrade?

I have FCS 5.1 and there are loads of upgrades available on Ebay a lot cheaper than the new acedemic. My budget is really tight right now and I would love to have the new capabilities. Will the FCS2 upgrade install without a hitch?

Just wondering if anyone knows before I waste money.

Why not save up and purchase a legit version rather than from a pirate on eBay. That's not a waste of money but kinda respectful to all the good folks at Apple who work their tails off for you....

I didn't say a pirate version. Upgrade versions are legit. They are sealed in original packaging. I just wasn't sure if it was ok to buy an upgrade and it it install with my LEGIT academic copy.
 
Think about it brother, why would there be so many upgrades for sale on eBay rather than full versions if they were legit? In theory you can only buy one for yourself direct from Apple. That said, give Apple a call and you can determine what version of upgrade would work with your Academic copy.

I thought you meant downloaded or copy's of discs on ebay. I don't know how people on there have more than 1 sealed version of the upgrade for sale, because there are many. Honestly I could care less how they got it, if its a sealed copy its the same as I would get from apple.

Either way from what I was able to dig up the upgrade wouldn't install so thats a dead issue. I'll have to stick with FCS1 for now...bummer.

One question I do have is if I buy it somewhere in the middle of completing my film and decide to install it...hopefully I could open my film's files in FCP6 and it would take in everything the same. I guess we'll find out.

A FCS2 upgrade disc will not take your legit academic serial number.

Do not upgrade in the middle of a project, that's just asking for problems. In theory it should work just fine, but when you're doing something important, it's not exactly the time to go flirting with disaster.
