FCPX Audio sync

I hope many AF100 users are on FCPX - I can only do basic stuff in it so far, but that basic stuff is blazing fast.
One of the things that attracted me to fCpX was the sync function that I saw in Apple's promotional video.

QUESTION: So I have a music video and I just want to throw down eight takes of the video and sync the playback audio with the MP3.
I'd then want to chop up the eight tracks, but that magnetic timeline is going to be a pain to deal with. Instead of leaving gaps like FCP7 does
all the chops and cuts will just magnetically just snap together.
Recommendations?
Does anyone know how to do this?

All help much appreciated.
Cheers!

was there audio on all tracks? If so just do a multi-cam clip, it will sync the footage, and then you simply select which angle to use when you want to switch it. make sense?

to elaborate: in FCPX a lot of your work gets done outside of the main storyline; syncing, rough editing (keywording), organizing etc etc etc, this all gets done before anything is moved to the storyline. select all of your clips, right click and make multi-cam clip.

yes, there was audio on all the tracks. Had the song playing back on a boom box while the artists lip-synced.
I just finished watching a multi-cam tutorial on youtube - and yes it makes sense. I'll try that, cheers!

I tried the multicam. It doesn't work for me for some funny reason. Trying to sync a 2.5 minute song - maybe the clip is too long to sync?
And whatever happened to the pen tool? How do we selectively adjust the volume of audio?

watch a couple of tutorials, I use it to sync 3cam weddings with hours of footage all of the time. Select a clip, press ctrl + - , or select a clip in change it in the info box in the top right
