Fcpx 10.0.6 released!!!

Interesting... at least from a sound post production stand point. Does FCP X support iXML/BEXT from production audio files recorded on the Sound Devices, DEVA? Is there a way to view this metadata in FCPX like Media Composer does?

I'm playing around with some RED Rd3's and I'm getting realtime editing done on a macbook pro retina. FCPX is for real now!

This is awesome! Great to see Apple continue to support this. My personal list of "must-haves" is growing ever shorter!

My personal favorites for this release: RANGE EXPORT!! Copy/Paste attributes window, and of course the Multi-channel audio. Still need to wait to try for myself but looking forward to the dual viewer, though the reason I want that most doesn't seem to be included yet (dedicated keyframing window for clips effects)

BenB - maybe some of these exist already, but I know some don't... this is my personal wishlist:

* Checkpoint/versioning feature without the cumbersome task of project duplicating.
* Improved Key-framing - a dedicated window like FCP 7/Adobe PP would be very welcome, as I find the timeline interface cumbersome to deal with. Especially now that we have two viewers again!! :D
* shortcut for showing waveforms on a clip and a "zoom to clip" shortcut and "restore previous zoom level" shortcut
* Still miss the 3 way CC - any good plugins for this?
*
More robust Media Management - force override on reconnect media, sometimes i know it's the right clip and it won't let me reconnect
* Choose which display plays back full screen, regardless of which display has your main viewer on it
* tabbed timeline for quicker switching between multiple compound clips... more like working with multiple sequences in FCP7. Open compound clips from event browser into a tabbed timeline interface
* option in event browser to show/hide clips that are already used in the current project's timeline. Also, an option to grey out in a filmstrip views any portions of clips that are already used in the current projects timeline
* free HDD space in event browser with option to "delete rejected event clips from HDD", etc.
* enhanced event and project management, IE a much better, integrated version of "event manager X"
* ability to add and customize keyboard shortcuts for functions that currently have no keyboard shortcut assigned at all
* "Merge Events" shouldn't have to duplicate all files before merging, but rather a simple move. When everything is on same HDD and I try to merge it says "not enough free space" - shouldn't need freespace! Just move 'em!
* Quick tip pop-up window, to remind/refresh on all sorts of "quick tips" and modifier keys (i.e. hold down CTRL when clicking with position tool and...), etc.
* background rendering that works even during timeline video playback, even if it means being throttled. I have 12 cores, it would be nice to have this working in background during playback not just while making other edits

Any way to have just one of the viewers on a second display? Doesn't seem to be an obvious way to just move things around the way I want to...

For example Ben, you can create custom keyboard shortcuts but only if the command is listed ( even of nothing is assigned).

There doesn't seem to be an option to assign a keyboard shortcut to changing the clip visual/audio size and right layouts, you have to click in bottom right to do that. I'd like a shortcut to quickly change these views as it is something I have to do quite frequently

Half of that wish list we can already do.

I beg to differ, excellent wishlist but FCPX is simply not capable of most of the requests on that list.
At the rate Apple is cranking out feature updates I'm sure they'll knock out a lot more features within another year.

Unfortunately for those who rely heavily on 3rd party img processing plugins like Magic Bullet Looks & Iruda, there's a confirmed magenta flash bug on background & export to MOV. Quite a few others are experiencing the same problem. Restoring back my OSX to 10.0.5 for production and 10.0.6 for learning/experimental. I'm sure over time either Apple or 3rd party vendors will update their to fix this major problem. The output is totally unusable. 10.0.5 is still more stable to other plugs in but it's a huge system RAM hog (solved in 10.0.6) and is not as refined as .6.

I'm doing half of that list already, so not sure how you can say FCP X is not capable. But, to each his own.

Some 3rd party plug ins work, other won't. Run any MB Looks 2.0.8 to a clip. Export to a MOV file or play it on the sequence. You'll see white flashes in the output file. This I'm sure can be easily corrected w/ future release fr MBLooks or FCP itself.

Bro dawg, you are loved, but (1) no one in this thread said because of my list that FCP X is not capable, and (2) there are multiple people here who either don't know what half you are talking about or how you do it. Either you are talking about an inelegant work around (i.e. you could edit multi track audio in 10.0.5 but it sucked and needed to be fixed), or we don't know how to do this and would love to know how.

Can you share, specifically, which half you are doing and how you are accomplishing it? If we're missing stuff the community would love to know.

The offset controls on the Letterbox default effect are now gone, not sure why. Using Alex4D's widescreen filter for 10.0.6 from now on.

Really jazzed about this update. Lots of folks around my social networks giving FCPX another try and lots of loving convo about it over at RedUser.net to my completely shock.

Another impressed FCX user. This is a robust update. Beefier, faster, and rock solid. I'm very impressed.

My only disappointment is that the new import window doesn't recognize user accounts on a server. Can't access anything on the user account unless its encapsulated into a disk image.

Oh well.
