For those of you working with FCP 7 and P2 media (specifically the HPX370)...
My workflow is this:
1. copy both cards onto raid array as "card 1" and "card 2".
2. I then open up log and transfer and add card 1 but then I get the SPLOD (spinning lollipop of death) and then unexpected quit. It happens on every project I've shot with the HPX370 so far.
Interestingly if I only add card 2 (which has only been partially used) it behaves as it should- no problems.
This leads me to believe that FCP is having trouble handling a P2 volume that has been filled up and spans across another card.
One X factor may be that I've been shooting with the new 1 clip function enabled on the HPX370 (which I love!) which may be throwing off FCP. But then again it works just fine importing clips from a partially full card.
I have a workaround which is to use Panasonic's own P2 software to read the cards and volumes, which creates a different file structure other than P2. Log and transfer has no problem importing these files- it's just a PITA to have to perform this extra step.
