FCP with or without manuals

Howdy,

Im looking to buy a version of FCP 5.1 to work with my macbp and possibly a G4 867 dual proc. and am wondering if I'd be handicapping myself If I didnt buy the printed manuals. I've always worked on Premiere 6.5 but am not sure how intuitive FCP is. What do ya think? Are the pdf manuals just as handy than a book I can haul around with me?

-the revolution will be televised..- Josh Wolf- Is he still in jail?

FCP is intuitive - after you learn to use it.

Your intuition will probably lead you to figure out the basic functions that are set up similarly to other NLEs, but there could be a whole host of things that you don't even know to look for.

You could get the same info on how to get started with the FCP HD for Dummies book (which is what I did), and then graduate up to more robust books (the pro-training series books are good, even if they are structured around exercises, rather than reference).

But I have to say - I rely on my 6 volumes of manuals (also DVD Studio Pro, Soundtrack, Motion, etc.) a lot for quick reference and plotting out a new technique I need to employ, and if I had to rely on "Help" and the PDF manual, I think I would lose my mind.

Thanks #8,

I think Ill have to look into what its gonna cost me to buy those manuals, whether on ebay (ps. why dont more people offer their manuals when theyre selling their software?) or at the bookstore.

peace out
J
