FCP vs. Render

Alright.

So I'm trying to keyframe a filter. The widescreen filter in this case. I key multiple points right where I want them. Then, I render and they reset. The numbers and dots still appear to be at the places I wanted them. For instance, I set one point to -40 and the next to -45. After the render they still say those numbers, but no longer correspond to where the image should actually be keyframed.

However, if I then try to either increase or decrease the numbers to change the image placement back, I immediately have to render again and I end up having to put all the numbers back to the original ones I thought they should be. I hope this makes sense.

I've always been able to keyframe before. Even on this project and on this Final Cut. In fact, I was working on it one night and then the next morning, I opened up the project and could no longer keyframe. It just doesn't work after I render. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

This is FCP 5.1 by the way.

Trash your prefs, get FCP Preferences Attic, free on-line here;

Also use your Render Manager (Tools menu) to trash the current render files and re-render.

Run Disk Utilities and maybe even Disk Warrior.

This is wierd for 5.1, but I'm guessing that trashing FCP prefs and render files will do theh trick.

Thanks Ben,

Unfortunately, I have tried both deleting all render files and trashing all my prefs still to no avail. I appreciate your help but I guess it must be a different problem. Anybody else know what might be going on?

I have tried on multiple computers. First, G5. Then, first gen 17" powerbook. And last, MacBook Pro. The project has the same issue on all of them.
