FCP User to Premiere

I'm an FCS user that's starting to relearn Premiere (due to FCX), but there is a big question I have currently: When playing footage back, it plays for all of a second, then stops. Spacebar again = 1 more second of playing. What's going on?

I'm on CS 5.5.

FCP to Premiere Users…..we're going to need that support group that's been bandied about. I know I'm going to have tons of questions.
 
You shouldn't have to, Hawk. What you might want to do is restart and repair your disk permissions. Additionally, if you have an "Admin" and a "User" profile on your Mac, you might want to login as "Admin" and repeat the process outlined in the Adobe forum post.
 
Thankfully, I haven't come across this problem even though I use Premiere all the time on the Mac. I wouldn't be surprised if Adobe spends a lot of resources on making CS6 work as well as the PC version considering the state of the market at the moment.
 
Problem possibly solved. When Garageband is open it would do it. Closing that application seems to solve the problem.
 
Funny, I had an issue yesterday that would cause After Effects to start previewing in ultra-low resolution, and to have to scrub the timeline when switching between comps to see anything. Turned out it was because I was running Windows Media Player at the same time (on my Win editing station). Not watching a video in WMP fixed the problem.
