I've had really good luck with Lynda.com When I first started .Your can learn at your own pace

Google lynda seven day coupons and give it a try for free for a week.

It's pretty darn good.

I'm an old fashioned book guy, so I would recommend the Apple Training Series for Final Cut Pro 6 by Peach Pit.
It comes with a DVD with project files so that you can actually work alongside the book.

I'd also suggest doing some projects for fun– give yourself little vignettes to cut together. Pracitical experience in the app can be more engaging than book tutorials at times. Lynda training is pretty good, and if you go with books, I'd also suggest the Peach Pit series.

Thank you guys! i got the free 7 day trial from Lynda.com and that seems like it will get my foot in the door and help get the basics down. I do also like books and with the DVD that will be helpful, so thank you for the advice.

arges03- i will definitley be doing some short films and fun projects to get used to it before doing/ taking a real job. i have a fun one coming up and ill post it when its all finished.

Thanks again everyone!

I'd also suggest doing tutorials for practice. My web site, http://www.fcptutorials.com, has a lot of links to good ones. If you do one a day (or more,) you'll quickly pick up a lot. Good luck!
