FCP Timeline settings for 480 24P NON advanced?

My friend just shot something with the HVX in standard def 24P in the NON-advanced mode. Upon bringing the footage into FCP, he can't get the timeline/sequence settings to work so that you don't have to render the footage first. I know he's tried both 23.97 and 29.97 options, and I'm not sure what else, but does anyone know offhand what the sequence settings for that kind of setup should be? I don't work with FCP much and I've never shot non-advanced pulldown (even with the DVX), so I'm not sure how that works. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hi Haakon,
Make sure advance 2:3 pulldown option is off(unchecked) since the shot it in non-advance mode... Also correct option is 29.97, not 23.97 at capture setup. One last reasaon might be the 16:9 factor, if he shot in squeze mode...

In summary:
In Audio/Video Set up you should choose NTSC 48 KHz for Sequence &Capture preset as if it is shot in 60i...
If you stil wanna remove extra frames use cinema tools for pulldown removal then import into a 23.98fps project
