FCP suddenly won't intialize my DVX??

I've been working with FCP HD and my DVX for months without a problem and suddenly final cut won't recognize/initialize my DVX100a. I am familiar with all the settings and have tried resetting them all to no avail. Any input would be much appreciated can't digitize footage and have AM deadline...thanks!!

Looks like your DVX firewire chip is cooked. Not unusual, especially if you connect the camera with the computer with the power on. Thre's no quick solution, you'll have to send it to a service centre.

Wow, I just got the main camera chip fixed (which took two weeks) as my LCD screen stopped working. They told me that the connection from the camera's main chip had been broken, and I never dropped the camera. I love this camera but from the beginning I had a sense that it seemed somewhat delicate. Now I know that all cameras have to be treated gently but after using the PD150 for years and never having a problem I'm a bit discouraged. The PD150 was a real work horse...Thanks for your input though!
