FCP Studio 3 Transitions not working

HELP!!!

I've verified there's no gap between clips.

By default, the cross dissolve is a second long. Just to verify, I've made the transition 2 seconds.

When I apply the transition to the video clip, it's 00:00:01 seconds long and can't be changed! It also doesn't center on the edit.

Something's wrong and I can't figure it out.

Please help!
 
Yeah my guess is that you are trying to cross-dissolve 2 clips that are at the very end and beginning of each. The transition requires the extra frames to cross dissolve. If you cant trim the clips, you can stack them on different layers and do a dissolve on each one. The effect will be the same.
