Fcp rip

That article reminded me of all the political campaigns airing on television right now. Sounds like someone works for Adobe.

Since there's been no official release date, nor any release by Apple at all regarding FCP 8, how can it be delayed?

IOW, it will appear when Apple decides to give it to us. Any information from 3rd parties before then are to be treated skeptically.

FCP 7 works and does the job so unless people are just angry and want to jump to Adobe Premiere or other options, I don't see it being a big issue. Sometimes I wonder if I just stop upgrading hardware and software today, how far could I go with my work. Pretty far because I would spend more time thinking creatively. My work would probably improve greatly. New software, new firmware, new plugins, new hardware, new updates, etc all just bog down the process of making motion pieces.

Part 2:
Looks like apple is abandoning the fcp ship/
He sites an article from Hardmac.com "According to our sources, the discontinuation of the Xserve by Apple would be only the beginning of an overhaul, which would lead to the disappearance of some professional-orented activities. Xsan and Final Cut server could be among the programs being discontinued"

I have no idea if it's true but does anyone know how strong (or weak) FCP sales are?

I think it's a mistake to measure what Apple may or may not do with their pro apps judging by economics alone, i.e. sales volume. A company enjoying the enormous sales successes and financial resources that Apple is currently enjoying can certainly afford to do some things purely in terms of pride, professional accomplishment and maybe even just showing up the competition. Yes, you have to answer to a board of directors, but when things are going phenomenally well everyone tends to be pretty happy and not aggressively looking at all the small change items in terms of sales and profit. Apple can afford to take their time with a revamp of FCS in order to get it right.

This may be partly wishful thinking on my part, but it would seem totally uncharacteristic of Apple to simply lay down and cede the professional arena to Adobe and others.

Not certain how the discontinuation of a poorly selling server product means the demise of the company's 1000000 seat professional video editing app.

Too much bother not enough profit !

Too much bother not enough profit !

Firstly look at DVD Studio Pro 4 this has not been updated for years and Apples biggest problem with DVD-SP4 is Blu-Ray, Apple have no intention to go down the Blu-Ray path so it gives them a major headache they can do without and can I just add I can no longer use my DVD SP4 as it's full of bugs.

Adobe have at least brought us 64bit...Apple need a full re-write to do this and I don't think they can be bothered...not enough profit in FCP when the APP store, iPad, iPhone makes them big bucks.

I love FCP for editing but I do have to look into the future, I have just replaced my MacPro about 6 weeks ago but once again apart from minor speed increase there was no cosmetic changes like HDMI or Blu-Ray drive...does not bode well !

It's no big deal to add a BluRay burner to a MacPro. It has gotten easier for me (and less time involved) for me to make BluRay disks than it is to make a standard DVD. Since we are able to edit the templates in Compressor, this has become a breeze to make a stunning BluRay in FCS. Yes I tried Premiere Encore. It was very fond of crashing with the infamous Error: code6. Not unless I'm bludgeoned into it will I try that again.....

Apple will do what they do for whatever reason they want and on their own schedule. And they won't tell anyone about it before hand.

FCP is not a religion, it's a tool. If it does what you want, use it. If something else does it better, use that.

For the record, I've been using FCP daily for over 9 years. I like it. But if my needs change, I'd simply change apps & not whine about it.

FCP is outselling Avid and Adobe. And I wouldn't be surprised if they have people trying to spread these asinine rumors.

There can be no delay if there has been no target release date.
The Apple XSERVE was discontinued because sales were poor. XSAN and Final Cut Server are still selling.

If FCP doesn't do what you want...get the app that does. No one holding your feet to the fire.

HD Warrior...you site absolutely ZERO evidence, have ZERO sources, quoted no one, didn't claim to hear about this from no one. YOu are just like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glen Beck. Spouting your half assed opinion and claiming it to be truth.

FCP doesn't do what you want, get Premiere. If you have evidence to offer...offer it. News organizations double check and triple check sources. Commentators just say what they want and claim it to be truth. You are a commentator. And a pretty bad one.

It's interesting about DVD SP.

I can run Encore without it repeatedly causing crashes. I've never had a problem with DVD SP.

But things have changed. My work rarely involves anything but on line delivery.

It you do need blu ray, there's single track authoring from Compressor 3.5, Encore CS3/4/5, Toast 9/10 or bootcamp with a PC blu ray solution.
